I am delighted to be present here among all of you on this auspicious occasion of the Foundation Day of BIT Mesra. Today, the institute is completing 68 years of its glorious existence. The momentous day marks the journey of this prestigious institution, which has been nurturing minds and shaping futures for over six decades. On this occasion, I congratulate BIT Mesra's management, faculty members, staff, students, and alumni.
Over the years, the alumni of BIT Mesra have made significant contributions to the development of our nation as engineers, technocrats, academicians, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Their achievements extend beyond national borders, with many alumni achieving remarkable professional success while residing and serving abroad.
As we reflect on the past history of BIT Mesra, which began with a vision to create an institute of higher learning that would not only impart knowledge but also foster innovation, research, and holistic development. The vision got converted into action and made the institute one of the finest technological institutions among the universities in India. Moving forward the glorious history past should not hamper future aspirations. As you all know, the world is rapidly evolving and Socio-Economic and Technology development are taking place.
The proven models of earlier decades are becoming redundant. We are getting new challenges in all sectors which need a modern solution. Once I read somewhere “Every problem has some solution and every solution has some problem”. However, I am confident that the students of this institution are well-equipped to tackle these challenges and serve the nation and profession with distinction.
I expect BIT Mesra to contribute to the area of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Space Engineering, Satellite communication, Power Generation and Distribution, Water Resource Management, and many more for the betterment of the people and economic prosperity of the state of Jharkhand and the nation.
As you know, India has taken a praiseworthy lead on the international stage in promoting solar energy. As the world anxiously looks for technological solutions to environmental challenges in the years to come, India's young engineers and scientists will help humankind achieve a breakthrough.
We have overcome the most devastating pandemic of the 21st century, i.e., COVID-19, and forged ahead toward our future journey. We also observed technical innovation during the pandemic. The economic activities are on track now, growth rates are increasing, and more employment avenues are being created. Start-ups are being supported by the govt. India is a significant economic force on the global map, with a large, young, and productive population. With an open, innovative, and creative attitude, India will be a knowledge economy. Technical advancement should produce positive results for all people. As our most respected Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji aspired to be technologically AtmaNirbhar.
I just want to remind you here, about Indian educational institutions such as Nalanda, Takshashila, Vikramshila many more. Banabhatta's Kadambari, contemporaneous with the early phase of Nalanda some 1400 years ago, describes a truly educated person as one who has mastered several kalas or arts, which included languages, and literature in addition to subjects such as engineering and mathematics.
Full implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) will lead to a paradigm shift. I trust BIT Mesra will set an example of this transformative change, embracing the ethos of policy and spearheading innovation in the field of education. I congratulate BIT Mesra in advance to play an active and influential role in implementing NEP 2020 in the coming days.
On this Foundation Day, the alumni are also present in large numbers. I am very glad to know that you are contributing to society and the country in various professional capacities. I hope you will remain connected with the institute and committed to its further development.
